DRAWING ON HIS NAVAJO HERITAGE, LEE BEGAY FEATURES HIS TRIBAL SYMBOL, THE KETOH, A POWERFUL DESIGN FROM THE WARRIOR’S BOW GUARD.. USING A FLAT BRICK OF ANCIENT TUFA, LEE CARVES HIS DESIGNS IN REVERSE, WITH PLENTY OF THREE DIMENSION.
MOLTEN SILVER IS POURED INTO LEE’S CARVING, LEAVING PLENTY OF NATURAL SANDSTONE TEXTURE. ONCE REMOVED, THE MOLD DESTROYS THE CARVING, MAKING EACH OF LEE’S WORK A ONE-OF-A-KIND ORIGINAL.

THIS BISBEE IS NATURAL TURQUOISE EMBEDDED IN A STABILIZED MATRIX. MUCH EARLY MINED BISBEE SPIDERWEB WAS OF THIS IMMATURE LOAM. AND MADE GOOD DOOR STOPS AND MANTLE PIECES. UNTIL, THAT IS, A LOCAL MINER DEVELOPED A PROCESS TO STRENGTHEN THE LOAM, WHILE EFFECTIVELY RESURRECTING THE NATURAL TURQUOISE HELD IN ITS GRIP.THIS SPECIMEN WAS THE HEART OF A THREE POUND STB BISBEE ROCK REDISCOVERED IN RECENT YEARS. IT WENT THROUGH SEVERAL HANDS BEFORE WE CHOSE TO TAKE A CHANCE ON IT. DAN PUNLEY DID THE LAPIDARY AND THE YIELD SUBSTANTIATED THE STRENGTHENED LOAM MATRIX AND THE NUGGETS AS NATURAL. BISBEE WITH RICH BLUE AND SPIDERWEB. PRICED A FRACTION OF IT NATURAL BROTHER. LIMITED QUANTITIES.
